One arrested after cat killings in Kozanköy, Cyprus

In the neighbourhood of Kozanköy, Cyprus, several cats were shot and killed, prompting public outrage. Police have taken a suspect into custody, and a local resident confirmed the arrests and the initiation of legal proceedings.

Animal‑rights activist Cemaliye İnan of the Animal Protection Association highlighted that recent amendments to the penal code make animal killing punishable by up to six years in prison. She urged authorities to apply the maximum sentence to deter future cruelty.
