ONE Conference addresses industrial cybersecurity in The Hague
The ONE Conference in The Hague recently gathered government agencies, cybersecurity experts, and academic institutions to address the growing threats of ransomware, denial of service, and state-backed cyber attacks. The event emphasized a shift from reactive to proactive cybersecurity measures within the energy and industrial sectors to protect against the financial and safety risks of digital breaches.
Willemijn Aerdts, the Dutch Minister for the Digital Economy and Sovereignty, highlighted the necessity of building resilience through investment in infrastructure and technology. She noted that strengthening digital governance with European partners is essential to reducing dependence on foreign entities and enhancing strategic security.
Discussions also focused on protecting vital infrastructure, such as oil and gas pipelines, refineries, and offshore wind farm connections. The SeaSEC project, involving Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, and Germany, was highlighted as a key initiative for securing these critical assets against hackers and state actors.
