One dead and three injured after vehicle plunges off Angeles Crest Highway in California

A vehicle went off the side of Angeles Crest Highway near mile marker 26‑50 in the Los Angeles area, falling several hundred feet near La Cañada Flintridge. The crash killed the male driver, who was in his 20s, and injured three other occupants – a man and two women, also in their early 20s – who were rescued and taken to a local hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries.

Rescue operations were led by the Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team, supported by Pasadena Fire, Los Angeles County Fire, Glendale Fire and Montrose Search and Rescue. Teams used low‑angle rope techniques, the jaws‑of‑life and a rescue basket to extract the occupants. A Pasadena firefighter suffered a knee injury and was also taken to a hospital. The highway was closed in both directions while the operation continued, and an investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
