One Nation candidate event scuffle in Melbourne

Police are investigating a scuffle that occurred outside a ticketed One Nation event in Melbourne’s north-west on Saturday. The incident took place at the Ascot Vale Neighbourhood Centre during a campaign launch for One Nation candidate and former AFL footballer John Barnes.

Footage captured a man and a woman entangled on the footpath following a disagreement. Victoria Police stated that a female passerby was pushed and sustained minor injuries during the altercation but did not require medical treatment.

Barnes declined an interview request, noting that party leadership had directed him not to speak with the media until closer to the November state election. He issued an apology regarding the incident.
