ONE Nuclear announces Project Cayman energy and data center site in Louisiana

ONE Nuclear has secured site control for Project Cayman, a large-scale energy and technology development in Louisiana. Located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge near the RiverPlex MegaPark, the project is planned to include a 2.88-gigawatt natural gas-fired power plant, a 700-megawatt battery storage system, and a co-located data center campus.

The project is positioned to support the rising energy demands of the region, specifically citing proximity to SpaceX’s Starbase project and Hyundai’s planned $5.8 billion steel mill. ONE Nuclear intends to provide reliable, on-demand electricity to the local grid, with plans to eventually transition from natural gas to nuclear power as small modular reactor technology becomes available.

Community outreach, including public information meetings with local government agencies and parishes, is expected to take place between September and December 2026. The company has not yet disclosed a specific construction timeline or total project costs.
