One Piece anime enters hiatus with return scheduled for 2027

One Piece anime Toei Animation Elbaph arc seasonal format anime hiatus

The One Piece anime has entered a hiatus following the broadcast of episode 1180, marking the end of its 2026 television run. New episodes are not scheduled to return until 2027, though a specific month has not yet been confirmed.

This break is part of a strategic shift in production announced by Toei Animation. Moving forward, the series will transition to a seasonal format with a maximum of 26 episodes per year. This new approach aims to increase production quality and better align the anime's pacing with the original manga by Eiichiro Oda, allowing each episode to adapt a single manga chapter without the use of recap episodes.

While the main television series is on pause, the franchise continues to expand through other media. Upcoming projects include the Netflix live-action series third season, a WIT Studio remake of the East Blue arc set for early 2027, and new theatrical films such as ‘ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY’ slated for 2027.
