One Piece franchise holds major global events in Japan and the US
The One Piece franchise recently held major celebratory events in both Japan and the United States. During One Piece Day 2026 at the Makuhari Messe in Japan, the series celebrated surpassing 600 million copies in global circulation. Key announcements included the results of a massive character popularity poll, where Monkey D. Luffy took first place, and the unveiling of new character outfits designed by creator Eiichiro Oda.
Additionally, Netflix revealed new cast members for the third season of its live-action adaptation, titled ‘The Battle of Alabasta’. The event featured live readings by voice actors from the Elbaph Arc and musical performances.
Following the Tokyo celebrations, the festivities moved to the United States for the first ‘One Piece Fest’ outside of Japan. Held on August 25 and 26 at Cosm Los Angeles in Inglewood, the event featured a 26.5-meter diameter video dome. This installation showcased over 1,000 episodes of the anime series playing simultaneously, providing an immersive experience for fans.
