One Piece imagery used in global youth protests

The Jolly Roger flag from the manga series One Piece, representing Monkey D. Luffy’s Straw Hat crew, has become a recurring symbol in various international protests led by Generation Z.

Reports indicate the flag was used during demonstrations in France against the cost of living, in Brazil by students protesting against Flávio Bolsonaro, and in Spain during national protests regarding housing issues. Additionally, the symbol has appeared in student protests in India and was noted during demonstrations in Indonesia and Nepal against government policies.

Observers describe the use of the iconic imagery as a symbol of freedom and a struggle against oppression among young activists.
