One Piece manga hints at Luffy's new fire-based power evolution

Recent developments in the One Piece manga during the Elbaf arc suggest a significant power evolution for the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. Following the release of chapter 1190, narrative clues point toward a potential new form, possibly referred to as Gear 6, which may involve fire-based abilities to bridge the power gap between Luffy and the primary antagonist, Imu.

In the latest chapters, Scopper Gaban has emerged as a pivotal mentor figure. Gaban intervened to save Luffy from a near-fatal confrontation with Imu, removing the Sword of Nothingness: Vohu and the Sword of the Sea God: Fragarach from his body. During this encounter, Gaban criticized Luffy for not yet being worthy of the title of Pirate King, reinforcing that despite his recent victories, Luffy remains below the level of Imu, who previously defeated Joy Boy.

The series has established a history of elemental connections for Luffy, such as Red Hawk and Red Roc. The current narrative trajectory suggests that his Gear 5 awakening may not be sufficient to face the current threats, necessitating a further leap in strength through elemental or divine-scale powers.
