One Piece marks 29‑year run with official puppet video and unveils new plot artifacts

To commemorate the 29th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, the One Piece franchise released a 12‑minute puppet short titled “A Lazy Day in Thousand Sunny.” The video, produced by director Yasuyuki Tsutsumi and animation studio Orange Parfait, features the Straw Hat crew as marionettes and is available worldwide on YouTube, accompanied by a handwritten message from Oda to fans.

In the same period, chapter 1189 of the manga expanded the series’ mythology by introducing a set of artifacts that may surpass the legendary Ancient Weapons. The narrative explains that Imu, the enigmatic “King of the World,” can wield these relics, and speculation centers on a possible twentieth weapon linked to the kingdom of Nefertari D. Lily, which could become crucial to the story’s final showdown.
