One Veszprém wins league opener 35-25 against ETO University

One Veszprém HC opened their Hungarian league season with a 35-25 victory over ETO University Handball Team. Despite a competitive first half where the score stood at 20-17, the defending champions increased their tempo after the break to secure a ten-goal margin. Yannis Lenne led the scoring for Veszprém with seven goals, supported by Dragan Pechmalbec and Hugo Descat with six each.

The team competed without Lukas Jørgensen, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation following an injury, and players Nedim Remili and Bence Imre were also absent from the lineup.

Head coach Xavier Pascual has expressed high ambitions for the season, aiming for domestic titles and a spot in the Champions League Final4. Pascual noted that the squad has been significantly strengthened, particularly through the addition of Danish goalkeeper Emil Nielsen. Due to the Champions League format, the coach emphasized the necessity for the team to reach peak form much earlier in the season than in previous years.
