One World Documentary Film Festival to feature 350 films
The 27th edition of the One World International Documentary Film Festival will take place in Bratislava from October 20 to 25, with an online component running until November 1. The festival features a diverse selection of approximately 350 films covering global issues such as politics, conflict, the environment, and human rights.
A featured co-production is ‘Queens of Joy’ (2025), directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Olha Hibelinda. The documentary, produced in collaboration with France and the Czech Republic, follows three Ukrainian drag queens who remained in the country during the Russian invasion to organize charity shows. The film explores the period from the 2014 Maidan protests to the spring of 2024.
Other notable works in the program include a documentary on the recovery of author Salman Rushdie, films examining gender perspectives in Afghanistan, and a Czech film by Slobodanka Radun regarding the life and political critiques of writer Denemarková. The festival aims to provide a comprehensive report on the current state of the world through various cinematic lenses.
