OnePlus 16 to launch October 12 with gaming-focused hardware

OnePlus has officially announced that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, will launch in China on October 12. The device is heavily optimized for mobile gaming, featuring a high-performance architecture designed to support sustained frame rates.

The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on a 2nm process. To enhance gaming performance, OnePlus is introducing the “Windspeed Game Kernel” and a proprietary “E-Sports Triple Chip” system. This dedicated hardware includes the G3 network chip for low-latency connectivity, the P4 super display chip for high-refresh-rate processing, and the T3 Lingxi touch chip for improved touch response.

A standout feature is the 185Hz display, which allows compatible games to run at up to 185 FPS. The device also supports a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate for smoother everyday use. Other reported specifications include a 200MP main camera, a large battery (potentially up to 9,000mAh), and advanced software features like DLSS 4-style superframe technology to boost frame rates in unsupported titles.
