OnePlus begins ColorOS 17 beta testing in India
OnePlus has initiated closed beta testing for ColorOS 17 in India, marking a significant transition as the company begins the global retirement of its OxygenOS software. The initial testing phase is limited to 600 users in India, with 300 slots allocated for the OnePlus 15 and 300 for the OnePlus 15R.
Leaked details and reports indicate that the new interface features a “liquid glass” UI design, redesigned application icons, and a restructured “About Phone” page. The update also introduces a completely rebuilt animation mechanism designed to provide fluid, elastic motions for gestures, multitasking, and app launches.
While the transition to ColorOS represents a shift in design philosophy, the underlying architecture remains consistent with previous versions, as OxygenOS has shared code with ColorOS since version 11. This beta test is restricted to Indian hardware variants, meaning users in the United States, Europe, and other markets are currently excluded from this specific testing round.
