OnePlus 16 targets gamers with 185 FPS support and new gaming chips

OnePlus has unveiled the OnePlus 16, a flagship smartphone specifically engineered for high-performance gaming. Scheduled for launch on October 12, the device is expected to be available in China and India, though OnePlus has confirmed it will not release new products in the US or Europe this year.

The device features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display capable of a 185Hz refresh rate for supported gaming titles, while maintaining a 165Hz hardware refresh rate for general system use. To achieve these performance levels, OnePlus is utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor alongside its proprietary Wind Chaser Gaming Core (Fengchi) kernel to optimize hardware and reduce latency.

A central component of the gaming architecture is the “E-Sports Triple Chip” setup, which includes the G3 chip for connectivity, the T3 chip for touch controls, and the P4 chip for image processing. Performance testing indicates the device can maintain stable high frame rates in popular titles such as Peacekeeper Elite, CrossFire, and Arena Breakout. Leaked camera specifications suggest a triple rear setup featuring a 200 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide lens, and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens.
