OnePlus to Exit US and European Markets
OnePlus, the Oppo‑owned smartphone brand, is reported to announce a withdrawal from the United States and Europe within the coming week. The move would end sales of new OnePlus devices in these regions, with remaining inventory being liquidated and no restocking planned. Existing customers will continue to receive software updates and warranty service until each device reaches the end of its supported lifecycle. The retreat is attributed to intense competition from larger rivals, rising component costs and a strategic consolidation of Oppo’s resources, including the planned replacement of OnePlus’s OxygenOS with Oppo’s ColorOS. While the brand may disappear from Western markets, it is expected to remain active in China and India, potentially as a lower‑priced sub‑brand within Oppo’s portfolio. The announcement, if confirmed, marks a significant shift for a company that once pioneered the “flagship‑killer” model and could reshape the competitive landscape for Android smartphones in the West.
