ONFP and BCI Sénégal partner to train 125 professional drivers

The Office national de formation professionnelle (ONFP) and the Banque pour le Commerce et l’Industrie du Sénégal (BCI Sénégal) have signed a partnership agreement in Dakar to train 125 professional drivers. The initiative aims to modernize the transport sector and prepare the workforce for the increasing presence of hybrid and electric vehicles in Senegal.

The training program will divide participants into five cohorts of 25 people each. The curriculum extends beyond basic driving to include road safety, risk prevention, new technologies, customer service, stress management, and conflict resolution. The goal is to certify at least 100 drivers upon completion.

Target candidates are experienced drivers aged 25 to 55 who have held a Class B license for at least three years and possess more than two years of driving experience. According to ONFP Director General Dr. Mame Awa Ndoye, the program is essential to ensure that investments in transport infrastructure and electric vehicle technology are matched by qualified human capital capable of safe and eco-responsible driving.
