ONGC Videsh discovers oil in Colombia's Meta department
ONGC Videsh Colombia has announced a successful oil discovery at the Milano-1X exploratory well within the CPO-5 block, located in the Meta department. The drilling reached a total depth of 11,300 feet, identifying 27 feet of hydrocarbon-bearing sand in the Lower Mirador formation.
Initial estimates suggest a potential production capacity of approximately 750 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). However, the company noted that definitive volumes remain subject to ongoing technical analysis and operational behavior in subsequent project phases. Fluid samples confirmed the presence of crude with an API gravity of 15.72°.
The discovery was attributed to the integration of seismic data, correlative well data, and real-time evaluations during drilling. This result expands the geological knowledge of the CPO-5 block and opens new opportunities for evaluating the Lower Mirador formation.
