Ongjin County launches campaign to prevent social isolation

Ongjin County is implementing a 2026 social isolation prevention campaign to identify at-risk households and prevent solitary deaths. The initiative aims to increase community awareness and encourage residents to report neighbors in crisis.

As a region composed of multiple islands, Ongjin faces unique challenges. Residents often rely on maritime transport to access medical and welfare facilities, and weather conditions can frequently restrict travel, potentially hindering access to essential services. The county plans to utilize honorary social welfare officials and local community security committees to provide customized welfare services and regular wellness checks.

In conjunction with these efforts, Incheon City is promoting a postal wellness service where mail carriers visit homes to check on residents and report signs of crisis to local authorities. This specific project is slated to support 131 households across Ongjin and Ganghwa counties.
