Ongjin County provides free mobile dermatology services on Ijakdo

Ongjin County conducted a two-day free mobile dermatology clinic for residents of Ijakdo in Jawol-myeon from the 15th to the 16th. The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Gyeonggi and Incheon branches of the Korea Hansen Welfare Association to address medical service gaps in island regions where access to private medical institutions is limited by geography.

Medical professionals provided personalized consultations for elderly and chronic skin conditions, including eczema, itching, and psoriasis. In addition to dermatological care, the team provided necessary oral and topical medications. The program also included comprehensive blood tests covering biochemical analysis, hepatitis, AIDS, and syphilis to monitor the general health of the residents.

Local health officials noted that the mobile service helps reduce the time and economic burden on island residents who would otherwise need to travel to the mainland for specialized care. The county plans to continue expanding customized medical services through cooperation with professional medical institutions to bridge the healthcare gap in remote areas.
