Ongjin County to host cardiovascular health walking challenge

Ongjin County, in collaboration with the Ongjin County Public Health Center and the Inha University Hospital Incheon Cardiovascular Disease Center, will host the ‘WalkOn Red Circle Challenge’ from September 1 to September 20.

The initiative aims to promote physical activity and increase awareness of the early warning signs of cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction and stroke, to ensure rapid response during emergencies.

Participants, including Ongjin residents and county employees, must use the ‘WalkOn’ mobile app to join the ‘Ongjin County Residents Walking Room’ community. The challenge requires participants to accumulate 150,000 steps over the 20-day period, with a daily limit of 10,000 steps recognized toward the goal.

In addition to walking, participants must complete a comment mission by posting one early symptom of myocardial infarction and one early symptom of stroke that they were previously unaware of. Educational card news regarding these symptoms will be provided on the challenge board. Successful participants will be eligible for prizes through a lottery, including grain sets and other souvenirs.
