Germany gaming and electronics markets show mixed H1 2026 results
The German gaming and consumer electronics markets show mixed performance in the first half of 2026. The German Games Industry Association reported that games, hardware, and online services generated 4.2 billion euros, a 3% decrease from the previous year. While online gaming services grew by 3% to 556 million euros, hardware sales dropped by 8% due to rising component costs.
In the broader consumer electronics sector, total turnover for technical consumer goods in Germany fell by 2.5% to 20.6 billion euros. This decline is attributed to low consumer sentiment and economic uncertainty, though innovation-driven products continue to see growth.
In the gambling sector, the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) recorded 3.112 billion euros in online gaming stakes for Q2 2026. Sports betting and virtual slot machines dominate this market. Data indicates that regulated, legal providers now account for approximately 77% of the market share.
Additionally, the company tonies reported a 38% increase in revenue to 243 million euros for the first half of 2026, driven by the Toniebox 2, though it reported a net loss of 27.3 million euros.
