Land-based casinos in the San Juan province of Argentina are experiencing a significant downturn, with revenues estimated to have dropped by approximately 40% in recent months.

Manuel Jiménez, Secretary General of the San Juan Casino Employees Association, attributed this decline to two primary factors: reduced household purchasing power and the rapid expansion of online gambling. As economic pressures force households to prioritize essential spending, disposable income for leisure activities like visiting physical casinos has diminished.

Additionally, the industry is seeing a shift in consumer behavior, with more players migrating to digital betting platforms accessible via smartphones. This trend has resulted in both lower footfall at physical venues and a decrease in the average amount spent per customer.
