Online fraud cases rise in Nördlingen and Donauwörth regions

Police authorities in the Nördlingen and Donauwörth regions report a significant increase in online fraud cases. Victims have recently reported losing hundreds of euros through various digital scams involving classified advertisement portals.

Specific incidents include individuals paying for items such as a beer dispensing system, window screens, and power tools, only to receive no goods after transferring funds. In another instance, a woman attempting to book a hotel room discovered the provided address was merely a construction site after transferring 186 euros.

Andreas Schröter, head of the Nördlingen police station, noted that the variety of fraudulent methods is evolving as people spend more time online. Authorities also highlighted phishing risks, citing a case where a perpetrator used a malicious link to gain access to a victim's bank details after feigning interest in a product.
