Netherlands gambling regulator renews key licenses

The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has issued several key license renewals to ensure continuity in the Netherlands' gambling market.

Lotto B.V. has secured its three monopoly licenses for an additional five years, covering lottery games, instant lotteries, and land-based sports betting. These new permits will take effect on January 1, 2027. This decision was made to prevent market disruption while legal proceedings regarding the sustainability of monopoly arrangements continue before the Council of State.

Additionally, BetCity, bet365, and GGPoker have been granted five-year extensions for their online gambling operations. Their new licenses are set to begin on October 1, 2026, and will run until October 1, 2031. This allows these providers to continue their activities without interruption. With these approvals, all eight original providers from the 2021 opening group remain active in the Dutch market.
