OnlinePharm supplies ColdMask nasal spray to pharmacies nationwide

OnlinePharm, a healthcare distribution subsidiary of Hanmi Science, has announced the nationwide supply of 'ColdMask' to pharmacies. ColdMask is a nasal spray classified as a medical device that utilizes lambda-carrageenan, a polymer derived from natural seaweed.

Unlike medicinal drugs that act chemically, ColdMask functions by forming a physical protective barrier on the nasal mucosa. This barrier is intended to prevent respiratory viruses from adhering to or penetrating the mucosal surface. The product can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription, with a recommended usage of three times daily.

Research published in the journal Scientific Reports in 2021 noted that lambda-carrageenan inhibited infection from Influenza A, B, and SARS-CoV-2 in cell experiments, though human clinical efficacy for prevention requires further verification. OnlinePharm continues to expand its healthcare portfolio, following previous distributions of products such as probiotics and energy drinks.
