Onosato holds press conference following sumo championship victory

Sumo wrestler Onosato held a press conference on September 28 following his victory in the Autumn Basho, marking his sixth championship and his first in one year. The 26-year-old Yokozuna expressed relief, noting that he had struggled with pressure and insomnia during the latter half of the tournament.

Onosato reflected on a mid-tournament slump where he suffered consecutive losses to Ozeki Kirishima and Kotozakura due to overthinking the championship race. However, he regained focus for the final day, utilizing his experience from his amateur career to win a decisive playoff against Ozeki Aonishiki.

Looking ahead, Onosato expressed his desire to bring good news to his home region, noting that the upcoming sumo tournament in Kanazawa is scheduled for October 12. He emphasized his commitment to rigorous training to achieve a perfect 15-win record in future tournaments.
