ONP offers voluntary pension contributions for independent workers in Peru
Independent workers in Peru can maintain their benefits within the National Pension System (SNP) through voluntary contributions to the Office of Pension Normalization (ONP). This process allows individuals who are no longer on a formal payroll to secure their retirement pensions and maintain access to health insurance without needing to re-enroll in the system.
Contributions are calculated at 13% of the individual's declared Monthly Insurable Income (IMA). The IMA cannot be lower than the current Minimum Living Wage (RMV), which is S/ 1,130. If a worker does not update their IMA, the contribution is automatically calculated as 13% of the RMV, totaling S/ 147. Workers wishing to increase their future pension amounts can update their IMA via the ONP virtual portal.
