ONRAC faces scrutiny over irregular sale of 27 seized vehicles
Babacar Ba, president of the Forum du justiciable, is demanding explanations from the National Office for the Recovery of Criminal Assets (ONRAC) regarding the irregular sale of 27 seized vehicles. The vehicles were seized as part of legal proceedings against Dane Sarr.
Ba argues that under standard procedure, seized assets should only be sold before a final judicial decision if they are at risk of rapid depreciation. He notes there was no evidence the vehicles faced immediate loss of value. Furthermore, he questioned the legitimacy of the transaction, describing it as a transfer between two state entities—ONRAC and the Primature—rather than a true public auction.
Ba has called for an official report to clarify who authorized the sale, whether it complied with article 677-49 of the CPP, and whether the Presidency or the ONRAC board provided approval. He also questioned the eligibility of the Primature to purchase the assets.
