Ons Buiten watersport association receives Royal Medal of Honor

Rotterdam Mayor Carola Schouten presented the Royal Medal of Honor to the watersport association Ons Buiten to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The award, presented on behalf of the King, recognizes the association's century of community life, volunteer work, and significance to the city of Rotterdam.

Located at the Bergse Achterplas in Rotterdam-Hillegersberg, the association operates within a unique landscape of approximately 200 small islands. Founded on September 22, 1926, Ons Buiten has evolved from a group of water sports enthusiasts into a close-knit community focused on nature conservation, water safety, and providing a space for relaxation and social interaction.
