Ontario Authorities Seize $139 Million in Drugs in Cross‑Border Bust

Canada and U.S. law‑enforcement agencies carried out a multi‑jurisdictional operation, Project Bay, to disrupt a broker‑style drug trafficking network that used commercial trucking across the Canada‑U.S. border. The investigation was led by the Windsor Police Service with support from the Canada Border Services Agency, Ontario Provincial Police, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as Toronto, Peel Regional and other local police forces.

Eighteen search warrants were executed on June 25, 2026, in Windsor, Corunna, LaSalle, Brampton and Kleinburg, followed by additional raids in Markham, Caledon and Brampton in mid‑July. Authorities seized nearly 1.7 metric tons of illicit substances—including 973 kg of suspected cocaine, 660 kg of suspected methamphetamine, 49 kg of suspected opium and 230 oxycodone tablets—along with 17 firearms (one an anti‑tank rifle), ammunition, brass knuckles, magazines, a baton and cash worth roughly C$80,000 and US$10,000. The haul, valued at over $139 million, is one of the largest drug seizures by weight in Ontario’s history.
