Ontario bridge infrastructure projects begin in Brock and Northumberland

Major bridge infrastructure projects are commencing in Ontario, involving both new construction and rehabilitation work.

In the Township of Brock, construction is set to begin on the new Beaver River Bridge on Regional Road 15. The Regional Municipality of Durham has contracted Esposito Bros. Construction Ltd. to replace the existing temporary modular bridge with a permanent structure. The project, which includes new asphalt, traffic signal modifications, and landscaping, is expected to continue through December 2027. While two lanes of traffic will generally be maintained, motorists should expect intermittent overnight closures and detours via Highway 12 and Regional Road 23.

In Northumberland County, the Trent River Bridge on County Road 30 will undergo full closure starting Tuesday, August 18, for rehabilitation work. The project aims to address deterioration in expansion joints, approach slabs, and sleeper slabs. The closure is expected to last until October. Signed detour routes will be provided for local traffic and heavy trucks, though drivers should anticipate approximately 20 minutes of additional travel time.
