Ontario Civic Holiday on Aug 3 suspends services at Niagara College and Dufferin County
On Monday 3 August, the province of Ontario observes the Civic Holiday (also known as Simcoe Day). As a result, numerous public and campus facilities close for the day.
Niagara College announced that its Welland and Daniel J. Patterson campuses will be locked on the holiday, with most student services—including enrollment, co‑op, career, and accessibility—closed. The Craft Beverage Center will remain open with regular hours, while fitness centres, the Benchmark store, and food services will be shut.
In Dufferin County, administrative offices close and will reopen the following day. Waste collection is postponed, with garbage and recycling to be placed out one day later. The HART Hub at the Edelbrock Centre operates limited hours (9 am‑4 pm), the Museum of Dufferin stays open free of charge, and early‑on centres and housing emergency lines provide after‑hour contacts.
