Ontario dog rescue: Update on animals from 150-dog hoarding case
Following a major animal rescue in 2021, where more than 150 dogs were removed from a 1,000-square-foot rental property in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, updates have emerged regarding the animals' welfare.
The rescue was coordinated by Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) and involved significant coordination between shelters, veterinarians, and animal specialists. At the time, neighbors suspected the animals may have been part of a puppy mill, and the Lincoln County Humane Society noted the scale of the hoarding case was unprecedented for their organization.
Recent updates from an adoptive family highlight the recovery of one dog, Fiona, who has transitioned from being uncomfortable outdoors to enjoying walks and time at a family cottage.
