Ontario funds 1,500 new seats at Trent University

The Ontario government has allocated $38 million to fund 1,504 additional seats at Trent University. This initiative aims to connect students with high-demand careers in STEM, health care, education, and trades, with enrollment expected to begin as early as the fall 2026 academic year.

This funding is part of a broader $1.7 billion provincial investment designed to create 70,000 new postsecondary seats across the province. The government stated that this expansion is intended to build a highly skilled workforce to support economic competitiveness and mitigate the effects of economic uncertainty and tariffs.
