Ontario government unveils $20 million investment in Ottawa hospitals and Northern workforce
The Ontario government is allocating $12,791,399 to upgrade and repair six Ottawa-area health facilities, including The Ottawa Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Bruyère Health, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Hôpital Montfort and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. The funding will address roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators as part of the province’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
In partnership with the federal government, Ontario is also committing more than $7.2 million through the Canada‑Ontario Workforce Tariff Response to up‑skill over 500 workers in northern communities. Grants are directed to Algoma Steel, the Canadian Skills Training and Employment Coalition and Confederation College to provide training in trades such as welding, heavy‑equipment operation and commercial driving.
