Ontario invests $3.4 million to bolster northern manufacturing

The Ontario government is investing more than $3.4 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to support 12 manufacturing companies in northern Ontario. The funding is intended to help businesses purchase equipment, upgrade facilities, and expand operations, with the goal of creating approximately 80 jobs.

This initiative aims to bolster the province’s domestic manufacturing supply chain and strengthen the economy against potential U.S. tariffs. Notable recipients include Jennmar Canada Ltd. in Sudbury, which is receiving $400,000 to expand its facility and increase in-house steel production, and R. F. Contracting Inc. in Sault Ste. Marie, which is receiving $379,619 for a new workshop and fabrication equipment. Additionally, Andy’s Trailers & Manufacturing Inc. in Timmins will receive $319,054 for equipment and facility upgrades.
