Ontario invests $3.6M to attach 8,500 patients to primary‑care teams in Lennox‑Addington

The Ontario government is allocating more than $3.6 million to expand primary‑care services in the Frontenac, Lennox and Addington region. The funding will enable the Maple Family Health Team and associated health homes to connect roughly 8,500 residents to multidisciplinary primary‑care teams, reducing wait times and improving access in rural and underserved communities such as Napanee, Loyalist Township, Sharbot Lake and parts of Frontenac County.

The investment is part of the province’s Primary Care Action Plan, which aims to link every Ontarian to a family doctor or nurse practitioner by 2029. All 124 participating health‑team proposals received funding, with a goal of attaching an additional 500,000 patients across Ontario. The overall budget for the plan has been raised to $3.4 billion for 2025‑2029, and the province has already surpassed its 2025‑26 attachment target, reaching 330,000 attached patients versus the 300,000 goal.
