Ontario municipal elections: Campaign updates in Mississauga and Toronto
Political activity is increasing in the Greater Toronto Area ahead of the October 26 elections. In Mississauga, Ward 2 Councillor Alvin Tedjo has scheduled a press conference for September 21 at The International Centre to make a major campaign announcement alongside special guests.
In Toronto, a new Mainstreet Research poll indicates a tightening mayoral race following the first debate. The survey shows Olivia Chow at 38.1 per cent, followed by Brad Bradford at 31.4 per cent and Chris Alexander at 8 per cent. Notably, 13.5 per cent of respondents indicated they might still change their minds before election day. The poll also highlighted that 51.8 per cent of voters consider crime and safety a very or extremely important issue when deciding their vote.
