Ontario municipal elections scheduled for October 26

Municipal elections are scheduled for October 26 in several Ontario communities, including Brantford and Kingston.

In Brantford, voters will elect a mayor, 10 ward councillors, and eight school board trustees. The city is divided into five wards, with two councillors elected per ward. Students attending Wilfrid Laurier University may be eligible to vote in Brantford under Ontario residency rules, even if they maintain a permanent home in another municipality.

In Kingston, three candidates—Aba Mortley, Melissa Reid, and Greg Ridge—are running for the King’s Town district councillor seat. The district covers the waterfront area from John Counter Blvd and Johnson St to Division St. Candidate Aba Mortley has highlighted housing accessibility, social housing, and supporting local businesses as key priorities for her platform.
