Ontario police charge individuals in separate criminal investigations
Ontario police have arrested individuals in two distinct criminal investigations involving contraband trafficking and fraud.
In Gravenhurst, a 27-year-old woman from Quebec faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of contraband before a visitor control point in a penitentiary. The charges follow an investigation by the Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, who discovered a drone and other items in a suspicious vehicle believed to be intended for a drone drop to traffic contraband into a nearby correctional facility.
In Shelburne, a 24-year-old Brampton resident has been charged with theft and multiple counts of fraud under $5,000. The Dufferin OPP investigation alleges that while delivering parcels to a residence, the individual stole personal property which was then used to make unauthorized purchases at various retail locations, including hardware stores and gas stations. The suspect was apprehended following a traffic stop involving a white cargo delivery van.
