Ontario Premier Doug Ford's Approval Falls to 24% Amid Hotel Expense Scandal

A new poll by Liaison Strategies shows Ontario Premier Doug Ford at a historic low approval rating of 24%, with 72% of respondents disapproving of his performance. The Progressive Conservative party trails the Ontario Liberals by five points, the Liberals holding roughly 38% support while the PCs sit near 33%, and the NDP around 21%.

The poll comes as Ford’s government wrestles with a growing hotel‑expense scandal. Former tourism minister Stan Cho resigned after billing taxpayers about $16,000 for Toronto hotel stays, and several Toronto‑area MPPs have been found to have claimed thousands for hotel rooms despite living close to the legislature. Ford has ordered caucus members to reimburse the expenses, while opposition parties demand greater accountability. The controversy is intensifying public concern amid broader cost‑of‑living pressures in the province.
