Ontario Provincial Police recover stolen vehicle in Trent Hills

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen vehicle and charged a 17-year-old from Quebec following an incident in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from the Niagara Region earlier in the week, was identified by an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system on County Road 35.

Prior to the recovery, the vehicle had failed to stop for officers on Highway 401 and again at a commercial property in Hastings. After being found abandoned on Lakeshore Drive, a search involving the OPP Canine Unit led to the apprehension of an individual in a nearby field. The youth faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation, and two counts of flight from a peace officer.
