Ontic launches CargoCare MRO services for Boeing 747
Ontic has introduced CargoCare, a new suite of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services designed to reduce aircraft downtime and maintenance costs for cargo operators. The initial offering focuses on an exchange and overhaul programme for Boeing 747 leading-edge flap drive units, a component that operators have previously found difficult to source or replace quickly following unplanned removals.
Under the programme, when an operator sends a faulty unit to Ontic, a serviceable replacement is dispatched from an exchange pool, with turnaround times starting from 48 hours. The removed unit is then overhauled at Ontic’s MRO facility in Tewkesbury, UK, before being returned to the pool to maintain a continuous supply.
Operators can select between dedicated or shared exchange pools to manage inventory needs. The service also includes fixed-rate overhauls for cost predictability, extended warranties, and support through Ontic’s global hubs in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Ontic plans to expand the CargoCare model to additional aircraft platforms and components in the future.
