Ontinyent awards 48,000 euros for CEIP Bonavista drainage works

The Ontinyent City Council has awarded a 48,000 euro contract to improve the sustainable urban drainage system surrounding the CEIP Bonavista school. The project aims to mitigate the impact of torrential rains and intense precipitation by enhancing water evacuation capacity in the school's vicinity.

The works will be carried out by the local firm Construcciones y Promociones Mancebo-González SL. This intervention is funded by the Diputación de Valencia through an extraordinary 2025 call for natural disaster prevention. Ontinyent has been granted a total of 125,000 euros for this program, which includes four separate actions.

In addition to the school drainage works, the municipal funds will be used to create “cool spaces” at the Municipal Sports Center to combat heatwaves and to purchase and install a new generator for the town hall building. Óscar Borrell, the Councilor for Territory, stated that the project directly improves the safety and functionality of the educational space in response to increasingly frequent extreme weather events.
