Ooni of Ife Donates ₦100 Million and Hilux to Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun Security Network
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has contributed ₦100 million and a brand‑new Hilux vehicle to the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community‑based security outfit founded by Chief Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho. The donation was presented during a courtesy visit to the Ooni’s palace in Ile‑Ife. The monarch described the network as a timely initiative that complements existing security efforts to protect lives and property across Yorubaland, praising Igboho’s “courage, resilience and dedication” to the welfare of the Yoruba people. He urged traditional rulers, business leaders and other stakeholders to rally behind the effort, stating, “Our strength lies in our unity… no force can undermine the peace and progress of Yorubaland.” Igboho thanked the Ooni, called him a symbol of Yoruba unity, and said the network will continue to operate within the law while partnering with authorities. He also announced plans to organise a security summit for traditional rulers, subject to the Ooni’s approval.
