The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, recently hosted a delegation from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Led by Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, the delegation included several high-ranking officials, such as Cardinal John Onaiyekan and Cardinal Peter Okpaleke. During the visit, the Ooni commended the Catholic Church for its contributions to societal development and its role in advocacy and humanitarian service, noting that the institution’s voice carries significant influence across Nigeria and the continent.
In a separate cultural development, the Ooni also unveiled the sponsors for the 2026 Olojo Festival. The unveiling included long-standing supporters such as Nigerian Breweries, MTN, and Seaman Schnapps, alongside new partners including Moniepoint and Ojaja Drinks. Osun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ojo Bankole, encouraged peaceful coexistence during the festival celebrations, which are organized to promote Yoruba cultural pride.
