Oostende man sentenced for repeat drunk driving

A 20-year-old man from Oostende has been sentenced by a Bruges police judge after being caught driving under the influence twice while holding a provisional license.

The first incident occurred on September 21 of last year, when the driver was stopped for driving at a prohibited time without the required 'L' sign and recording an alcohol level of 0.76. During that stop, he also refused to undergo a saliva test. Less than a month later, he was caught again with a significantly higher alcohol level of 1.68.

The judge imposed a fine of 2,400 euros and a driving ban of two months and eight days. Additionally, the man is required to undergo medical and psychological evaluations to address his repeated violations of traffic laws.
