Oostende prepares to host UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships

Oostende has officially entered the final 100-day countdown to the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, scheduled to take place from January 29 to 31. Organized by Flanders Classics, the event marks the return of the championships to the Belgian coastal city after six years, following a restricted 2021 edition held without spectators due to the pandemic.

The new 3.4-kilometer course aims to showcase the city's landscape, incorporating the skyline, the casino, the dike, and the beach, where a hill will be constructed. Unlike the previous edition, which focused heavily on a large bridge, the updated route will feature two bridges over tram tracks and technical sections at the Wellington Renbaan.

Speculation is also growing regarding the participation of Wout van Aert. Experts suggest that Van Aert may return to his cyclo-cross roots this winter, potentially participating in the World Championships on home soil. His presence, alongside rivals like Mathieu van der Poel, is expected to significantly increase public interest in the event.
