Oosterhout launches free home energy leak check campaign
The municipality of Oosterhout is launching a large-scale free leak check campaign for homeowners as part of the Sustainable Oosterhout Week. From Monday, October 5, to Friday, October 9, residents can have their homes inspected for cracks, seams, and other areas where heat escapes.
The initiative aims to identify small heat leaks that reduce comfort and increase energy consumption. Alderman Job Basting has already participated by having his own home inspected. The program emphasizes that sustainability does not always require major renovations; addressing drafts and cracks can be an effective first step toward lowering heating costs.
Beyond the inspection week, Oosterhout residents can access free, independent energy advice through ONE and the Energieloket. The municipality also provides an Energy Saving Team, where energy buddies can conduct two-hour home visits. Additionally, subsidies for certain insulation measures are available, with the Oosterhout Insulation Subsidy potentially reaching up to 2,500 euros.
